fabrik, leading on landscape planning and design, formed part of the team that recently secured planning consent for General Fusion’s demonstration facility at the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s Culham Innovation Centre in South Oxfordshire. An innovation centre for fusion technology, the facility will provide research into carbon free, safe and abundant energy for the UK.

The design confidently aims to create companionship between environment and industry, use and setting. The landscape planning and design process saw close collaboration between consultants and Officers, with concepts tested through an iterative LVIA process. The proposals include the use of innovative materials, complex, yet seemingly simple land modelling, and a planting palette that will evolve through successional processes.
