We are delighted that planning permission has been granted for the Robertson Care Home in Hurtmore, Godalming, on the edge of the Surrey Hills National Landscape. fabrik’s landscape design and landscape planning teams worked closely with the client and wider project team to develop a landscape-led proposal that responds sensitively to its Green Belt setting, while delivering a high-quality environment focused on resident wellbeing.
The scheme has been carefully designed to retain and enhance the site’s existing landscape character, creating a series of accessible and therapeutic outdoor spaces that support health, social interaction and connection with nature. These include formal garden areas, productive growing spaces, a central courtyard, and a meandering ‘wandering path’ that encourages gentle exercise and exploration within a safe and attractive setting.
Alongside benefits for future residents, the proposals deliver significant environmental enhancements, through new tree planting, species-rich habitats and biodiversity-focused landscape interventions. These measures will strengthen the site’s ecological value while enriching the experience of those living, working and visiting the care home.
This approval represents an important milestone for the project, and we look forward to seeing the spaces come to life as the development progresses.
