We’re delighted to see the masterplan for Land at Chesham Road, South Berkhamsted, achieve Building with Nature accreditation. This recognition is a great testament to the strength of collaboration across the team and to what can be achieved when landscape is integral from the very beginning.

As landscape architects on the project on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, we worked closely with the wider consultant team to embed green infrastructure at the heart of the masterplan, shaping a place where landscape truly leads the design.

From the outset, the vision was for the creation a connected network of green corridors, multi-functional open spaces and sustainable drainage, delivering benefits for both people and wildlife. The masterplan responds carefully to its setting, from the Chilterns landscape to the heritage context of Ashlyns Hall, all while supporting climate resilience, biodiversity and health and wellbeing.

The Building with Nature (BwN) process itself was a rigorous and rewarding journey. With a large, complex project and input from multiple consultants, coordinating the information required for assessment was no small task. However, this collaborative effort has helped to ensure a robust, high-quality scheme that aligns with the BwN standards for wellbeing, water and wildlife.

A special mention to our in-house Building with Nature Assessor, Nathan Onions, who led the assessment process and helped guide the project through to success.

We look forward to seeing the project continue to evolve.
